Production engineering support for pre-production units of the Bedfont Scientific NOxBOXi

ITL’s relationship with Bedfont Scientific began when Bedfont needed a partner to manufacture several pre-production units of their NOxBOXi. The NOxBOXi monitors and regulates the delivery of Nitric Oxide during Inhaled Nitric Oxide Therapy. One of the key uses for Nitric Oxide therapy is in the treatment of premature babies with breathing problems.
ITL’s production engineers worked closely with Bedfont to offer initial design improvements to allow the NOxBOXi to be more easily manufactured.
This included re-laying and re-routing of cabling, advising on a solution to mitigate electromagnetic discharge and supporting the implementation of a number of design updates prior to the manufacturing of the units.
A dedicated ITL manufacturing and production engineering team then manufactured the units alongside engineers from Bedfont. This gave Bedfont’s engineers a full understanding of the manufacturing process to enable their engineers to fully appreciate the impact on manufacturing of any further design changes.
The pre-production units were used for validation, testing and product demonstrations.
