ITL Updates On Manufacturing Lead Times

17 March 2022 News

ITL is a world-wide supplier of diagnostic, medical, and analytical systems, and we are conscious of the crucial role that our supply chain plays in providing for our clients. As one of ITL’s valued customers, we thought it best to be as responsive as possible to the ever-changing conditions in the global marketplace at present.

All of us will be very much aware of the various challenges facing not only our industry, but many others regarding the supply of components, both active & passive, as well as the simple act of logistics. What started as a chip shortage has now evolved into ever-lengthening lead times on a whole range of electronic components, right down to the basics, including capacitors and resistors, and is now starting to compromise other areas, such as CNC, sheet metals, and other associated businesses.

This goes in conjunction with the fact that logistics is fast becoming more and more challenging. To simply get goods to the dock for onward shipping and transportation to another country is one half of the battle. Getting those goods loaded, sailing or flying is now an entire effort, especially with the current Covid-19 situation that is still present in Hong Kong and mainland China.

ITL is attempting, where possible, to work together with its customers to forecast, as best as we can, where and when instruments will be required within the next 12 – 24 months. This coupled alongside with the placement of advanced orders by our customers, and then ITL onto its supply chain, will hopefully protect us from some of the complications that we are seeing each day.  Therefore, we ask that, to the best of your ability, you consider your current order coverage, and your needs on a rolling 24-month window, with 3 – 6 monthly reviews, for us to ensure that the supply of instrumentation remains as smooth as possible.

Despite the difficulty we all face, we remain committed to investing in a resilient supply chain and continuing to deliver operational excellence. We would like to thank you for your continued partnership and cooperation. If you have any questions regarding lead times, please do not hesitate to contact us, and we will do our very best to continue to support you during this time.
