Test Operator

We’re searching for a Test Operator

The Test Operator will report to the Senior Test Technician and Production Manager. You will work primarily within the Production Team but will have key working relationships with the Production Engineering, QA/RA and R&D departments. This role requires a driven individual that can work well in a small team to achieve targets set, taking ownership of meeting customer driven deadlines.

You will be responsible for the inspection and functional testing of PCB’s against a controlled test procedure, so must be comfortable using equipment such as Flying Probe, Oscilloscope, Function Generator, PSU and a DVM. You must have a keen eye for detail and be capable of working in a well organised manner, producing documentation that is fit to pass ISO13485, FDA, MDR audits.

You will be involved in the creation of new programs using FabXpert offline programming software for our Takaya APT-1400F Flying Probe, working closely with the Production Engineering and QA/RA teams to complete process validation as part of the program creation exercise.

You will assist the production team with performing electrical safety testing on devices manufactured using HAL Combi and Rigel electrical safety test equipment.

You will need to be capable of fault diagnosis to schematic drawings and will be required to carry out any necessary repairs to IPC J-STD and IPC 610 standards.

This role will fully support the manufacturing facility to maintain compliancy to all aforementioned regulatory requirements.

Key Roles & Responsibilities 

  • Functional test and inspection of PCB’s
  • Contribute to the creation of manufacturing documentation
  • Programing and using Takaya Flying Probe
  • Carry out training to other members of the team when necessary
  • Process Validation
  • Fault finding down to component level and repair
  • Carry out route cause analysis
  • Maintain good ESD practice

In addition to the above functions and responsibilities employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required.

Experience, Knowledge & Requirements

  • Minimum HNC/HND or equivalent in electronics
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Evidence of ability to work with critical attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • Excellent time management skills to effectively handle conflicting priorities and ensure tight deadlines are met
  • Experience of ERP like Syspro or another
  • Microsoft Office proficiency

Beneficial, but not essential:

  • Flying probe experience
  • Experience of ISO 13485
  • IPC 610 and J-Std experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in high-tech engineering to exacting standards
