Product Design Engineer Intern

We’re searching for a Product Design Engineer Intern

Vacancy: Kent, United Kingdom

Reporting directly to more senior engineers, project managers and the R&D Director. The role of the Product Design Engineer Intern is to assist within our R&D design department with the potential to move, after successful study, to a permanent position for the right candidate.

Main Duties:

  • To learn and contribute to the design of a broad range of mechatronic medical and laboratory projects. Follow the new product development lifecycle from source to end. Involvement in the mechanical design and simulation of products using Solidworks. Learn about and design for processes such as injection moulding, sheet metal and machined parts, design for manufacture.
  • The ideal candidate would also have a flair for industrial design. Drawing up and modelling surfaced concepts for presentation to clients. 3D printing concepts etc.
  • Defining and carrying out verification and validation tests. Building prototypes and commissioning instruments.
  • Documenting the design.
  • Undertaking tasks as required with the department.

Necessary Qualifications & Training

  • 2nd / 3rd year graduate student with predicted grades 2:1 or above.
  • Outgoing personality and able to work within a team, or on their own initiative.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Smart appearance and able to discuss their designs confidently during client design reviews.

In addition to the above functions and responsibilities employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required.
