We’re looking for a Buyer / Planner

Vacancy: Kent, United Kingdom

Full or Part Time Available

The role of Buyer/Planner is to take responsibility for the purchasing of direct materials in line with operational requirements, maintaining part and procurement parameters in MRP/ERP and to monitor and analyse reposts on manufacturing data sets.

In this position, the successful candidate will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Purchasing of direct materials in line with operational requirements
  • Creating and maintaining jobs in line with the ERP system process to ensure WIP valuations and capacity planning
  • Identifying any upcoming capacity issues and work closely with the relevant team members to troubleshoot any potential issues
  • Provide accurate lead times to sales and customer services teams and KPIs
  • Monitor and analyse reports on manufacturing date sets e.g. On time delivery, inventory and schedules
  • Maintaining part and procurement parameters in MRP/ERP, i.e. supplier lead times, strategic safety stocks, yields.
  • Ensure all purchase orders and amendments are always up to date in the supply chain system.
  • Work with internal and external partners to optimise stock and ensure stock is provided in line with product lifecycle and business requirements.

In addition to the above functions and responsibilities employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required.

Experience, Knowledge & Requirements

  • A working knowledge of FMEA / Root Cause Analysis / Pull Control would be advantageous
  • Demonstrated proficiency of ERP systems (Syspro, SAP, Sage, Oracle)
  • Knowledge and experience of running MRP systems and advanced Excel skills
  • An understanding of Incoterms and PPV
  • Working experience in a Procurement / Purchasing / Supply Chain / Production Planning role, from any similar manufacturing industries or FMCG, ideally 2 years +
  • Fantastic relationship building skills
